Property types

Coastal or inland — Driftwood adapts.

Driftwood started on the coast — tides, beach conditions, surf forecasts. Today it works just as well in a mountain lodge, an urban hotel, or a desert resort. Pick your property type at signup; everything else adjusts.

Coastal property

Coastal

Default cards: tide hero (with optional tomorrow overlay), waves, water temperature, surf forecast, flood risk, clamming (Pacific NW), AQI, weather, beach conditions hero. Wildfire card auto-hidden unless smoke or a nearby fire surfaces. NWS marine alerts auto-subscribed.

In-room devices: full tide-anchored rotation.

Mountain property

Mountain

“Today outside” Best hike hero. Outdoor conditions with extreme-cold + heavy-rain auto-rules. Stargazing-tonight card, opt-in river / reservoir card (USGS). Wildfire smoke + Red-Flag warnings. Avalanche terrain permanent advisory. Altitude sickness above 2,400 m (auto-gated by elevation).

Tides + waves + clamming hidden.

Urban property

Urban

“Today outside” Best walk hero. Outdoor conditions, AQI + pollen, weather, NWS alerts. Heavy-rain + high-pollen auto-rules.

Tides + beach hidden by default.

Desert property

Desert

“Today outside” Coolest window hero (cooler hours win). Outdoor conditions with extreme-heat alert (95°F threshold). Stargazing-tonight card. Flash flood + dust storm permanent advisories. UV always on.

Tides + beach hidden.

Override anything

Every default toggle stays editable. If you're a coastal property without a beach (a marina, for example), hide beach conditions. If you're a desert hotel with a lap pool, show water temperature. The property type seeds defaults; you have the last word.
